So What is a Pyramid?

Pyramids - a Purpose not a Shape

When first I heard the temples at Angkor Wat being called pyramids I was almost disorietated for they certainly didn't look like any pyramid I ever saw before. But upon reflection I realised they might indeed very well serve a similar purpose to many other pyramids, of generating a vertical thermal column of moist, warm air. The vapour would be drawn from the surrounding shallow moat with the air further heated by exposure to the highly ornate carved stone of the towers to generate a very efficient updraft sufficient to power an airborne glider or trigger local rain.

So is it possible, the word 'pyramid' was originally a generic term for a structure built to serve a specific purpose before it was adopted to describe a particular shape? It would certainly seem a possibility and might well explain how mastabas, Sun Temples, Zigurats and other similar buildings can all reasonably carry the name of pyramid. To top

There is now solid evidence of the chronology of pyramid construction in Egypt. It shows a  progression in pyramid design from the raised dais of a mastaba to the 'stepped' pyramid of Djoser to 'true' pyramids and on to the Sun Temples. From the similarity in the associated compounds, temples and other building, there seems little doubt they all were built to serve precisely the same basic purpose.

The first stone pyramid, Djoser’s pyramid at Saqqara started as a simple (mastaba) platform about 10m high that was progressively enlarged over a 20 year period. At least five additions saw it eventually become a six-stepped mastaba/pyramid 60m high. This massive stepped pyramid remains the sixth-largest pyramid in Egypt, completely denying the common assertion of archaeologists that there was no connection between the stepped pyramids and the true pyramids that came later.

Djoser’s pyramid was followed by two pyramids near Giza, started but soon abandoned. The Pharaoh Huni  then built a string of tiny pyramids all along the 800km of the Nile valley from Elephantine (Aswan) in the south up to Seila on the southern tip of the Giza plateau. The remains of at least seven almost identical pyramids survive but the chain has three notable gaps that almost certainly contained others that have long since disappeared. To top

Builder Extraordinaire

The next in line was the  Pharaoh Sneferu, who without a shadow of doubt was the greatest builder of all time. He built thee major pyramids and was also responsible for a massive expansion of agriculture all along the Nile valley, a totally unprecedented, industrial-scale enterprise that included the establishment, in one year alone, of 155 farms and other new estates. The massive wealth that this expansion soon engendered leaves little doubt it was part of significant and extraordinarily profitable trade agreement. The problem is, with whom? To top

Possibly even more significant is the progress he made in pyramid technology. Settling at Meidum, Sneferu started building a 7-stepped pyramid, about double the size of Djoser's pyramid. However, before it was even half-completed, he began incorporating an enlargement to 8 steps, taking its height close to 88m. To top

20 years later, after completing the Bent and the Red Pyramids at Dahshur, Sneferu revisited the Meidum site to encase the 88m, 8-stepped pyramid in shell that turned it into a 92m ‘true’ pyramid. This (second) true pyramid became a half-sized model for the Great Pyramid that his son Khufu was to start building shortly after his succession.

As a sequence of construction, within the reign of just one pharaoh these three pyramids (with the subsequent return to Meidum) define the development in design from stepped pyramid to true, giving quite extraordinary emphasis on the significance of the development of the newly developed ‘true pyramid' design. The Perfect Pyramid

The Great Pyramid that followed was four times the volume of the Meidum pyramid but was otherwise an almost exact replica. It was also 50% larger than the Red pyramid (the largest to that time) and is widely recognized as the largest and certainly the most impressive stone building in the world.

After 4500 years, the Great Pyramid is also still (definably) by far the most accurately aligned and most perfectly constructed stone building on earth and is an icon, instantly recognised by everyone. What is not so widely known, is that the Great Pyramid  originally had  a perfectly smooth reflective sheathing of stone, known as the mantle that, it is reported, reflected sunlight for 'a hundred miles' (160km). Recent findings suggest the mantle was almost certainly covered with thin, gilded brass mirrors, stuck to the surface with an unusual glue. To top

The original mantle stone was removed as a source of building material to rebuild Cairo after an earthquake in the 14th century. For this reason it might be thought the precision of the original surface could never be truly known. However, this is not absolutely correct because the stone beneath, now exposed, is also quite unbelievably precise. Since it must reasonably be assumed that the mantle was more accurate than its foundation, it speaks volumes about the precision of that original surface.
There is also sufficient mantle remaining along the base to allow some amazing conclusions to be drawn. It would be no exaggeration to state that modern engineers would be sorely tried, trying to replicate the precision of the outer structure, even using laser technology.
Recognized as an expert surveyor and possibly the most meticulous scientist of his time Sir Flinders Petrie recorded the findings upon which my work is based. To top

To paraphrase this esteemed archaeologist and surveyor, Petrie revealed the Great Pyramid was as accurate as a fine quality optical instrument. Within the limits of his ability to measure to such exactness from the exposed foundations, the pyramid was found to be perfectly square and perfectly aligned to the earth’s polar axis.

The blocks of the mantle were originally polished and accurate 'to within 1/50th inch' (0.5mm) of perfectly flat over many acres of total area. They were also aligned side to side to within 1/500th inch (0.05mm) and yet were sealed together with an extraordinary mortar, stronger and more durable than the original stone.
Every side of the pyramid was made up of two flat panels, set very slightly concave to one another (500mm or about 1/2 degree over 230m). The surface was polished smooth and was almost certainly faced with gilded brass mirrors. Without doubt, the whole structure was built as an optical instrument, the largest optical reflector ever made. To top

The Reasons Why

Once it came to notice, the question had to be ‘why did the Egyptians go to such lengths?’ And the answer was not so hard to find. It has long been known the pyramids had something to do with sun worship, (solar) energy and power. The connection was therefore obvious, although the reason behind  it was perhaps a little less so.
If the pyramid was made to reflect sunlight for some practical purpose, it could only serve in one of two ways. Sunlight could be reflected down to a focal point or, via secondary mirrors, the sunlight could be focused upwards. Since there are four faces, obviously the answer was that sunlight was reflected onto the pyramid by (sun-tracking) heliostats surrounding the structure and the resulting unified, vertical beam, was then made to serve some purpose. To top

A few simple calculations, a little logical deduction and some knowledge of (solar) reflective optics suggested that, very conservatively, the pyramid was capable of supplying in excess of 200Megawatts of power in the form of heat, but only over a strictly limited range, no more than a few thousand meters, at most.

The intensity and quantity of energy was clearly enough to ionize the air above the pyramid in a similar way that air in a thunderstorm is ionized by the passage of vast quantities of electrical energy. There could be no doubt, the Great Pyramid (and other true pyramids) were built to harness sunlight on a scale we can yet barely comprehend. The only possible reason was to power an air- and (just possibly) a spacecraft. To top

From this initial process of deduction, the role and purpose of all pyramids rapidly fell into place and expanded to include pyramids everywhere. Although other pyramids clearly used a different source of energy (presumably microwaves) there could be no doubt about the correctness of the theory. However, at that time (c1958), the technology of beamed energy propulsion had not been previously theorized and was seen as pure fantasy. An eminent physicist from the UK atomic Energy Authority was approached by a close colleague only to be forced to abandon me and my ‘crazy ideas' on pain of losing his job. To top

Introducing Beamed Energy Propulsion

40 years later, on 5th November 1997, beamed energy (plasma) propulsion was proven in physical demonstration at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. In press releases at the time, NASA acknowledged that beamed-energy propulsion systems.

A "were the most promising technology to lower transportation costs to tens of dollars per pound” and that potential energy sources included

B “the sun, a ground- or space-based laser or microwave transmitter.” To top

Every detail of the technology revealed at that time and since, matches the ancient evidence with an exactness that finely aligns the past with this amazing technology of our future. Clearly, the solar-powered pyramids would have required boosting by an additional energy source for greater range but that technology is also now available. [In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s lasers and masers were little more than a rumour]. To top

With the final vindication of my theory, my return to research around 1997 revealed the extraordinary evidence now available from pyramid sites everywhere. In particular, there was evidence of the ‘missing’ technologies of masers, lasers and x-rays. Although I had barely hoped to find it, this included the most extraordinary and conclusive evidence of all; absolute proof, from  American pyramid sites, of the unparalleled and quite extraordinary use of microwaves, undoubtedly being used to power this whole technology on a global scale to (and from) the ground to deep space.

The technology encompasses space solar power satellites (SSPS’s) and beamed energy propulsion (BEP) aircraft with hypersonic global transport and unlimited access to space all available on clean, renewable energy. It includes an answer (though not necessarily a popular one) to global warming, pollution and our energy crisis. It is arguably the greatest revelation in modern history and you can read about it here for the first time, on this site. To top

So What are Pyramids?

The whole case of "What are Pyramids?" is built on known technology and proven historical facts but it also includes an extremely close affinity with the stories of legend, myth and scripture. And it would now seem clear that a pyramid was any structure that was built to produce either some or all of the phenomena that can now be associated with pyramids.

Although other applications might also apply, it would include launch platforms for BEP aircraft, power generators using BE technology and pyramids or similar buildings that controlled the weather as a primary or secondary role, perhaps surrounded by a shallow moat or other source of vapour.
